Extreme Emotions !!

No, this is not a thesis on primary, secondary and/or tertiary emotions and this is not about the academics behind them. This is about the absolute highs and lows of human life - the ability to experience & revel in them, acknowledge & express them and most times even respond & react to them.

She had seen different kinds of people in her life - ranging from hyper-emotional to completely cold and indifferent. She found it hard to believe that people sometimes could be so matter-of-fact that nothing besides the "self" affects them. Such people probably do not experience passion (in any form) unless it has to do with their career, their immediate family or their life and even when they do they seem absolutely incapable of being honest about them. Feeling it and not showing it is an excuse she found delusional. One couldn't carry on a charade like that all of the time.

She was disillusioned when she first met a handful of such people. These are the people she slotted in the "Black & white"  category. People who saw everything in black or white. They had no clue of the color Gray. She simply couldn't believe that they could disengage themselves from everybody and everything, be detached in matters that did not impact them and yet be known as virtuous for being pragmatic and nonchalant. Agreed, there was less drama in their lives. But is such a life worth living?

She on the other hand, was on the far end of that scale. She personally would rather be dead than not experience feelings and emotions like love, loss, ecstasy, fear, disappointment, jealousy, passion, submission, awe, rage, contempt, guilt and remorse. She was love with the idea of being in love. She felt every emotion in its rawest and most basic form and in most cases over and over again. She lived, loved, lost and had a few remorses but at least her heart had experienced and continues to experience the most beautiful colors that life has to offer. Her emotional journey has its fair share of tears, guilt and stress. Some of the hazards of feeling so deeply, she guessed.

But if there was one thing she knew for a fact it was that given a chance to do it all over, she wouldn't change a thing. She would make the same mistakes, go through the same upheavals and end up being the same dramatic, sensitive and passionate person she is today. She just wouldn't have it any other way !!
